There should be very little performance difference between DDR3 G86M in Lanai / Thurman and DDR2 G86M in Corsica / Gilligan.
Both have been optimized for their respective TGP packages. TGP stand for Total Graphics Power and represents to total amount of GPU & Discrete Graphics memory available in the thermal envelope. On Corsica/Gilligan this amount is 15W, and on Thurman/Lanai this amount is 12W. While technically, the DDR3 memory can run faster, it has been clocked down to fit inside of the thermal envelope. A 128MB DDR2 memory configuration consists of 4 chips; a 128MB DDR3 memory configuration consists of 2 chips. Given the size/weight constraints on Thurman & Lanai, fewer chips offered a better package configuration in the box. However, a faster clock with slower memory in Corsica/Gilligan should yield similar performance to a slower clock, with faster (potentially) memory in the Thurman/Lanai."
Enlighten me!
