Hello!

Hello everyone!

I’m Luke, Community Manager at NVIDIA for Northern Europe and the official NV rep for SweClockers! I’m based in the UK and am a life-long gamer (of course!). I’ve always heard great things about this site and I instantly knew we had to look at supporting the awesome community that’s held here. My Swedish isn’t perfect, but I can spot a strong community when I see one!

So today I’m happy to reveal that we’re opening a dedicated NVIDIA sub-forum right here on SweClockers so you guys can come join me to discuss all things GeForce, SHIELD and of course, video games!

I’ll be making the sub-forum my home here on SweClockers so feel free to chat and ask me anything.

Why do nvidia keep pushing closed standards in a pure 3DFX style? Split up the dev community, either they dev for nvidia or they dev for everyone else. Other brands that can use your standards are blocked out, games detect "hostile" brands and disable ingame functions like AA (remember batman).

Will nvidia ever become the good guys?

I'd like to bring up a question that's not Nvidia only but just as relevant. How is it that coil whine seems to be a lot more frequent today than before? Is it just something we now only begin to notice because of the air coolers getting less noisy that previously cancelled it out?

Noisy fans can be solved of with water cooling but that high pitched coil whine will remain and I know it's very infuriating for a lot of gamers. Some manufacturers and retailers offers their customers refund or a new card if it causes coil whine but it's still a hassle and something that never seems to be discussed anywhere but it consumer forums, amongst consumers.

What's Nvidias take on this? Why do we feel it's only getting worse and will we ever get rid of it?
