SSD suddenly empty?

Hi!

I have a Corsair Force 120GB that I bought for something like 2,5 years ago. I been happy using it since, but yesterday the computer with that disk wouldn't boot any more. OK, fine, I connected it to another computer using an USB-adapter.
That computer couldn't recognize any partitions at all - I've been there before, but this time it was different.
Using following commands:

jake:tmp zyber$ sudo dd if=/dev/disk4 count=5000000 | hexdump Password: 0000000 48 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0000010 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 * 5000000+0 records in 5000000+0 records out 2560000000 bytes transferred in 244.929865 secs (10451972 bytes/sec) 98968000 jake:tmp zyber$

The meaning of this is that the first 2,5 GB of the disk is empty. Zero. Nada, No data fragments at all. So I let it go thru the whole disk, and the whole disk is zeroed out.

I then contaced Corsair thru their webpage, but they only told me some crap about updating drivers in my computer.

I still have the receipt of the buy.

Cheers,
Zyber

Jag är en optimist; det är aldrig så dåligt så att det inte kan bli sämre.

I don't know how that could have happened. Have you updated the firmware and tried re-formatting/secure-erasing and re-installing? If it's faulty and under warraty then we'll replace it.
